Fall Break has become a popular time to travel! Many people choose to extend the dates to allow for a full week of vacation while only missing 2-3 days of school. But what if you don't want to miss the extra days? Can you still manage to squeeze in a great vacation over a short break? Absolutely!
I spent a little time this afternoon putting together a few options as examples with pricing. I've based the dates on when fall break occurs in the schools in my area, so let me know if you need help with other dates. All of these examples are based on a family with 2 adults and 2 children (one age 3-9, one age 10-17).
This last one has specific pricing for my local clients, but it can easily be adjusted flying out of other airports. This is the only option that INCLUDES AIRFARE!
*Please note that all pricing is valid at the time I am posting this. Prices can and DO change, and they are not guaranteed until a trip is booked. I hope this post gives you some ideas for fall break travel. Feel free to email me with questions or to book one of these great options for your family! Julie

There are other discounts available in the Orlando area, but this is a general overview of those offered by Disney for resorts and tickets. Rooms can be booked by calling directly (or through a travel agent such as myself), and additional options such as dining plans can be added. I hope this information was helpful to you, and please share it with your friends and family! Julie [email protected] I have been working as a travel agent for over 3 years, and I’ve found that many people have no idea that most travel agents are completely free to use. There is a general misconception that it is a luxury only afforded to the rich and famous going on high dollar vacations. I can certainly understand why it would appear that way because how many things in life are really free, right? How is it possible that a travel agent is free? Don’t they get paid? It’s really very simple. Travel agents are paid a commission by the suppliers they book through. The commission is built into the supplier’s pricing, so you’re paying for a travel agent regardless of how/where you book. Booking directly leaves that portion with the company, and you actually lose value by not having the help and direction of your own personal travel planner. Why not use a service you’re paying for anyway? Are you sure there aren’t any hidden fees? This is a question you will need to ask of any travel agent you consider using. I do not personally charge any fees, but there are agents that do. I get that it’s free now, but why should I use a travel agent? Can’t I just book online myself? There are so many reasons that using a travel agent is beneficial! Here are just a few.
Another important point is that using a travel agent is a way to support small business! I hope this brief explanation was helpful, and please let me know if I can answer any questions and/or help plan your next Magical vacation! previous posts, but I am going to expand on that here with even more! A picture is worth a thousand words, so I am going to load this post up with pictures from all around the resort. The pictures below represent a small sample of what is available to do. There are multiple picnic areas with grills and games scattered throughout the resort. We were always able to find somewhere to play cornhole, horseshoes, etc without a wait at all! Here are some more pictures I took while walking around the resort. It is so peaceful here. Now on to the numerous scheduled activities available! You can see the circles on our copy here because meeting Shadow (who is basically the mascot for the resort) was a top priority for my kids. A cast member circled them all for us at check-in to make sure we met him! The majority of these activities are completely free, but there is a $ next to the ones that do have an additional cost. I did not get photos of all we did unfortunately. We attended several of the little shows with B'lou where I didn't take pictures. The kids really enjoyed his magic tricks and stories. The campfire was an absolute blast! My son was chosen to ring the bell to begin the campfire because he correctly answered a Disney trivia question, and that is the first picture. The entire time there is filled with interactive songs and stories. We even scored a FastPass to be the first in line for S'mores! I highly recommend you experience this at least one night of your stay. These are all from Shadow's Funny Bunny Hunt. B'lou takes you for a walk all around the property. There are many funny tales and folklore involved in this activity. Plus we got to meet the amazing Shadow! Another absolute must for us was meeting Pluto! It was a very well organized meet with a short wait. Goofy Bingo! They describe the character, and you cover the character that is the answer on your card. There were also some bonus trivia questions throughout the game. Even I was stumped when they got the very obscure ones! Bingo was fun for all of us from age 4 to adult. Many packs of Smarties were won this night :) I hope you have enjoyed this installment! I will be wrapping things up with the next post where we will FINALLY make it to the beach. Stay tuned! Hello again! After a very long delay, I’m finally back to post part 2. I apologize for the wait. Life, work, and the holidays made for a very busy few months. This little packet is given at check-in so that you are aware of what is happening during your visit. It is full of information to help you plan out any activities you would like to do. Broad creek rentals*Please keep in mind that all schedules and pricing are subject to change. This is what was available to us during our September 2016 stay! This is where you can rent equipment for your stay. We rented fishing poles and purchased crab nets and bait. It was so much fun, and a definite change of pace from our normal busy vacations. Here are some pictures of the pier and main fishing area. That's me trying to catch a whopper! broad creek mercantile/tide me overRight above Broad Creek Rentals, you'll find Broad Creek Mercantile and Tide Me Over. An important thing to note about the restaurants at the resort and beach house is that they close VERY early. The purpose is to encourage visitors to go out and explore the enormous amount of wonderful restaurants in the area for dinner. We took advantage of the kitchen in our villa for most meals, but we did stop at Tide Me Over for Mickey waffles a few times. The Mercantile carries all of the basic needs as well as lots of Mickey treats. There is a small selection of swimsuits and beach toys as well as other standard gift shop trinkets. You can also check-out DVDs here for FREE! The library of Disney movies was so extensive that I could find anything I tried to look for! Also, make sure you stop at the penny press right outside the doors that you can see in the picture. Game roomIf you head back downstairs, you will find a game room next door to the rentals. We really had so much fun playing here! The kids couldn't seem to get enough. The Big Dipper Feature PoolWe had a bad storm come through, and these pictures are immediately following that. It was very chilly! This is the only time we saw an empty pool all week long. That's it for part 2! I am putting together info about the activities we participated in and photos of the many free things to do at the resort for part 3! Are you ready to book your next Disney vacation? We just got back from Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort last weekend, and it was AMAZING! I have so much info to share that I’ve decided to split it up into multiple posts instead of just one. Please click the link on the right to sign up for updates if you want to make sure you see it all! If you have never stayed in a DVC (Disney Vacation Club) resort, you will find out from the moment you first interact with a cast member that you’re in for an experience like no other. I was immediately greeted by smiling faces, waves, and hellos from everyone we passed. The concierge came up to me immediately to ask how he could help. This resort definitely has the Disney magic! Check-in was very speedy, and we were given loads of maps and info for the resort and entire Hilton Head area. You are issued a Key to the World Card to use as both your room key and ability to charge back to your room. We took the opportunity to give both Live Oak Lodge & Big Murggie’s Den a once over. We came back here many times during our visit as there are many scheduled activities that occur here. Check out the pictures of the building below! We found out that you can check out board games here (for free) if you need something to keep you busy on a rainy day! And see that photo booth up there? We got just a little sidetracked taking free pictures! We visited this photo booth multiple times. You get a hard copy of your picture, and you can also download them via Disney Photopass. Awesome! Once we were able to pull ourselves away from the photo booth, we decided to head over to our room. We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa in building 14. This villa was literally just like home...at least if I had a maid to come clean my home every day it would be. It was so nice to come back to a spotless villa every day! These pictures include both some stock photos and some of my own. I apologize for not taking more of the room before we moved all of our mess in! This particular villa can sleep 9. A king bed in the master, 2 queens in the 2nd bedroom, a foldout sofa, and a foldout loveseat. There are 2 full baths with a jacuzzi in the master suite. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you might need to cook most meals. In our 5 nights there, the only thing I didn't have when I needed it was a pizza cutter (easily remedied with a knife). There are dishes, cups, etc for 9. They supply laundry soap, dish soap, paper towels, and all you could need for the villa. I am going to stop there for this post. The next will contain info about the Broad Creek Mercantile, equipment rentals, restaurants, pools, and more. Don't forget to subscribe for updates. More is coming soon! We are leaving for our trip to Disney’s Hilton Head Resort on Saturday, and I realized as I was cashing out on some of the ways I earn money that it would be a great thing to write about and share! I’ve mentioned in other blog posts that I look for only the fairly simple ways to save on our vacations, and all 5 of these are uncomplicated. This is without a doubt the easiest way to make money by doing nothing but your normal grocery shopping. Simply scan the code on your receipt, and any items that are on sale for less at local stores will earn you a rebate into your account. When you’re ready to use the rebated funds, simply request your e-gift card. You can use that card at Walmart (or Sam’s Club as they have discounted gift cards) to purchase Disney gift cards. Free Disney money! 2. Shopkicks This is an app where you earn “kicks” for various things. Where and how you earn is ever changing, so it’s best to check it often. Many are earned simply by walking into the store. You can earn more by scanning items, scanning receipts that include specific items, or simply linking a card to your account to earn them for purchases at stores that you’re shopping at anyway! I earned a crazy amount when they had Old Navy at 2 points for every $1 spent. You can turn your kicks into Walmart e-gift cards. Check it out and see if it is something that might work for you! *This link does contain my referral code. 3. Ibotta Ibotta is another app that allows you to earn rebates for items you’re already purchasing. You can redeem as either Paypal or a Walmart/Sam’s Club gift card. If you use my referral code to register, you’ll earn a $10 bonus when you redeem your first rebate. The code is sjv7va. 4. Ebates Oh how I love Ebates! If you do much online shopping, you will earn money fast using this. They often run specials for 6%+ back at very popular stores. All that you have to do is go to Ebates and click on the store that you want to shop at. They automatically track the info and confirm when the order is complete. Checks are sent out quarterly, or you can opt to have it sent via PayPal. Again, this is nothing more than shopping as you already would! *This link does contain my referral code. 5. Sell unwanted items If you’re like me, you probably have a crazy amount of stuff around your house that you just haven’t taken the time to get rid of yet. I try to go through closets, toys, etc 3-4 times a year. I recently did this because preparing for the season change is always when one of these purges occurs. Within just a few days of clearing items from the rooms and closets of my 2 youngest kiddos, I had earned over $200 selling outgrown clothes and toys on local Facebook buy/sell/trade groups. Selling this way has always been far easier and more productive than a garage sale, but that works as well. The key is putting all that you earn aside as vacation money. Hopefully some or all of these help you earn some extra cash for your next Disney trip. Feel free to share a comment on any extra ways you’ve found to earn! You might know about all of the rides and shows, but there are also interactive experiences available at all 4 parks that don’t seem to get much attention. All of these are included with your park admission, so try one (or all) out on your next trip! Sorcerors of the Magic Kingdom This is a fun interactive scavenger hunt! You use Merlin’s mystical map and spell cards to defeat the Disney villians. Use the clues on the map to find the Magic Portals, and the spell cards to battle! Important Details
You can find all of the details and description here. Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure Some kiddos just don’t get into exploring the World Showcase in Epcot, but this adventure will have them excited to go! This is another scavenger hunt style game, but you’re working as a secret agent to defeat Dr. Doofenshmirtz. Up to 4 guests can join forces on each mission, so this is a FANTASTIC family activity! Important Details
You can find all of the details and description here. Wilderness Explorers at Animal Kingdom Do you want to be a Wilderness Explorer just like Russell in Up? This is your chance! Earn badges for completing challenges throughout the park. This is another one that can be completed as a family or by each person individually. Important Details
You can find all of the details and description here. Jedi Training Academy at Hollywood Studios This is the only thing on the list that is NOT for the entire family. However, it is an absolute must if you have a Star Wars fan between the ages of 4-12. Your child will receive special Jedi training before facing Darth Vader or the Seventh Sister Inquisitor in a live show. There are multiple shows every day, but I would suggest arriving at the park before it opens to be near the front of the line to sign up. The spots will fill quickly! Important Details You must be between 4 and 12 years of age to participate.
You can find all of the details and description here. I hope this helps you find a new experience to enjoy on your next trip!
