If you have a family of 5 or more, you likely already know that everything becomes more expensive and complicated once you pass that standard 4 person family size. I have 4 kids myself, and I even created a Facebook group for families to share their own tips and ideas as well as ask for help/advice. You can check it out here! I’m going to list the most budget friendly options for large families available at Walt Disney World Resort in this post. I’ll break it down into sections based on family size. Cheapest options for a family of 5 1. Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort Many of the rooms here offer 2 queen beds and a fold down bed recommended for ages 3-9. If you book as a family of 5, you will be guaranteed the extra bed. You can find more information about this resort here. 2. Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Most rooms here offer 2 queen beds and a fold down bed recommended for ages 3-9. If you book as a family of 5, you will be guaranteed the extra bed. You can find more info about this resort here. Cheapest options for a family of 6 1. Disney’s All Star Music Family Suite These rooms offer a separate bedroom with a queen size bed. The main room has a foldout double sofa, a fold out twin chair, and a foldout twin ottoman. There are 2 big bonuses here including a second bath and a kitchenette. The suites are 520 square feet. You can find more info about the resort here. 2. Disney’s Art of Animation Family Suite These rooms offer a separate master suite with queen size bed and private bathroom. The main area has a double foldout sofa and a double Murphy bed. You have the bonus of 2 bathrooms and a kitchenette here as well, and these suites are much larger at 565 square feet. The themes include Cars, Lion King, and Finding Nemo. You can find more info about the resort here. 3. Disney’s Fort Wilderness Cabins These “rooms” are more like your own private condo! Each cabin features a fully equipped kitchen, bedroom with queen bed and twin bunkbeds, separate living room with queen size sofa bed, ONE full bathroom, outdoor deck with picnic table and charcoal grill, and private parking. The cabins are 504 square feet. You do sacrifice the extra bath offered in a family suite, but you gain a full kitchen which can end up saving money on food costs! You can find more info here. 4. 2 connecting rooms at a value resort This option can come in at a lower cost than the other 3 depending on the season you travel and discounts available. You will only be guaranteed connecting rooms if you are a family with only 2 adults and 3+ children. The benefits are that you will have 4 double size beds, 2 full baths, and 520+ square feet depending on the resort. Also, this is the only option that will fit up to EIGHT guests! There are many other options and configurations that can work for larger families, but this is my list of the most cost effective. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like a quote to see how any of these options can work for you! I consider myself a very frugal person. As a busy mom who runs a business, I also value my time. I am always looking for that perfect balance between saving a buck and devoting hours to searching out deals and clipping coupons to save an extra quarter. If you can relate to that struggle, this is the perfect list of money saving ideas for you!
2. Purchase Discount Gift Cards Discount gift cards?! Yes, these do exist! There may be many other options out there, but I will list a few stores that are widely available.
3. Open a Disney Vacation Account Remember all of those gift cards you just purchased? If you enter them into a Disney Vacation Account, you will receive an EXTRA $20 gift card for every $1000 spent on a Disney vacation. One extra step has just gotten you a 2% rebate! There are a few rules on the account, and it must be open for 120 days before using the funds to qualify for the gift card. 4. Visit During Off Seasons One question I am asked regularly is, “When is the best time to visit Walt Disney World?”. There isn’t a simple answer to this as it will vary depending on the family. The easiest answer is any time that schools are in session. However, not every family is comfortable pulling their children out of school for a vacation. If this describes your family, it just means a little more creativity in planning. The more flexibility you have with your dates, the easier it will be to save on a Disney vacation package! 5. Have Groceries Delivered/Bring Groceries I cannot tell you how much money I have saved by having snacks, breakfast items, and drinks in our resort room. This option is obviously easy when driving, but there are some options for those that don’t have a vehicle. The easiest are Garden Grocer or having a package delivered from Amazon Pantry. I hope this information is helpful to you in saving for your next magical trip. Feel free to contact me if you need more assistance planning! Are you ready to book your next Disney vacation?
